How wireless access works
Keyless access is the authorization of the car owner using a digital smart key or an additional immobilizer tag of the security system. Access is made contactless, the owner of the car just needs to approach it. The doors will be instantly unlocked, he will sit behind the wheel and, by pressing a button, will start the engine. How wireless access works
To provide keyless access, a special chip is used, on which the access code to the car is programmed. The chip can be placed on different media:
- trinket;
- key;
- a plastic card;
- smartphone.
When the owner of the car moves away from him further than 2-3 meters, the signal is lost and all the locks in the car are blocked automatically.
The opening of the car occurs according to the following scheme.
- Get closer than 2-3 m to the car and press the button on the key fob. In this case, the system will give a signal to its unit located inside the car.
- The received signal will be processed by the system, in response it will send an encrypted message to the key fob.
- The keyfob will receive an encrypted signal and will send a response coded signal again at a different frequency.
- Upon receiving positive answers to all requests, the system in the car will allow the driver to open the door and remove the car from the alarm.
If contactless access is provided using a smartphone, then the exchange of signals between the units of the system is carried out via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
In more advanced contactless access systems, the parameters of the car owner are also taken into account. If, for example, its weight or height is very different from the data that was previously programmed, then the system requires an additional password to open the car.
In addition to opening and closing doors, the keyless entry system can perform other functions:
- start the engine without a key;
- memorize seat settings;
- raise windows;
- close the hatch when arming;
- contactless open the luggage compartment, etc.
In different brands of cars, this system is called differently. Mercedes-Benz calls it Keyless Go, Audi calls it Advanced Key, and Volvo calls it Keyless Drive.

The keyless entry system has the following advantages:

To minimize the negative consequences of these shortcomings, you need to immediately order a duplicate smart key when installing such a system and leave it for storage in a safe place.
